Yea ive just rang them, peavey have put an offer on em for a "limited" time. Hence the cheaper price. Im not going mad look.. http://www.guitarandampshop.co.uk/acatalog/Peavey_Vypyr_Tube_120_-_120_Watt_Modelling_Guitar_Amplifier_Combo.html

Wow. I'd never pay £600+ for one, I mean you can get some brilliant amps for that kinda money.

By all means, go for it!! If its what u want, do it!!! Dont jump into it if you havent tried one or at least tried and tested other options. Hell, if you want one really bad and want to pay postage, I know someone that has one sitting around collecting dust! Its in Australia tho..........

He will prob sell it very cheap tho

man, you have actually put me off haha! I cant try before i buy thanks to living nowhere near a good shop. Trying to work out if this amps actually good and some people are being tone snobs or if its actually a pile of wank like a spider. I was looking at a 6505 112 and even made a post about it, but most people pointed me in the direction of the vypyr....

"Yeah. I seriously haven't touched my 5150 in months. My Vypyr is just so much damn fun! I hadn't had actual "fun" playing guitar for almost a year, until I got my Vypyr. Then it was just like, all the joy of playing guitar rushed back. I've learned over all the different gear I've owned that I'm more of an amp tweaker/collector than a guitar player"

Im back in the way of thinking 6505...

And I'm going to say this right now, I've played the 6505 and Ive played the Vypyr Tube. The Vypyr Tube is a better amp period. The 6505+ head made in USA with a nice cab will sound nicer for metal, but when you are comparing the Vypyr Tube and the 6505 combo the Vypyr slays it. It sounds just as good for metal, and much better in every other department.

Don't let the guy who's probably only played a 15 watt Vypyr put you off

i can't comment on the price, i'm not savvy in that market.

but as far as the amps go, that's a very versatile amp with decent tone.

edit: while it can cover most genres, what type of music are you looking to play?

this is why you often have to take advice with a grain or a mound of salt. many things "seem: great on paper so to speak but reality is often diffrent. i have nothing agains Vypyr tubes however to get the benifit of the tubes you really have to crank them. i'd rather run a multi-fx unit through say a ValveKing myself over that amp but that's just me. digital distortion just doesn't sound quite right through an amp.

I've played a lot of amps including some high end amps (see my blog).

The Vypyr 60 is a superior amp for the price ($450).

The Vypyr 15 is a superior amp for the price ($99).

The Vypyr 120 combo is a bit overkill but that seems to be a good deal. I like the head/cab idea too.

I owned a Valveking and used to run my MFX into it. It was OK -but way too digital. I have clips to prove it.

They Vypyr's distortion is actually analog BTW. It is the post gain effects that are digital IIRC.

That 'newbie' has a Hayden Mofo, Orange cab and PRS SE Custom

I get that you don't like the Vypyr and that's fine. They are not for everyone and tone is in the ear of the beholder. I will respect your opinion even more if you've owned one or played them extensively like I have. Otherwise, maybe you had a bad day with one (I've had my bad days too)

These sound pretty killer to me
