So my band is about to get $300 (amazing, right? ) from this battle of the bands we entered in my town.

The problem now is: we don't know what to do with the money. We have a decent PA for now, and we don't wanna split it cause it would be kinda pointless.

So that leads to my question: What did you do with your band's first moneys?

weed.

or

1. buy t shirts for your band
2. sell them
3. use the money to buy weed.

you get more weed than the first option.

Hookers.

Seriously though, I would probably spend a bit on promoting and either save the rest for something needed, or if the funds are already sufficient, get whatever else is needed for the band. What could the band really do with that you can afford with $300?

Oh, and the Pit really isn't the right place for this; both in getting answers and because it's the wrong forum.

Dude, where's my band?

Are you serious? You don't think 300 dollars for your FIRST gig is enough? Really? My friend's band gets like 100$ dollars a show, and they're a 4 piece. You're lucky dude.

This. $300 is probably the most you'll ever make as a band.

But you never know, I'd say reinvest it.

Invest it in the stock market.

Yeah $300 is a sizable amount of money for a band to make for one show. You're in for a world of hurt if you think you're gonna be making even that on a regular basis.

Use it to buy merch.

If you don't have any immediate need for it, save it. You may come upon a situation where the band really needs it sometime in the future.

Making up some T-shirts to sell isn't a bad idea. But, are you guys well-miked? If not, a couple mics wouldn't hurt.

A savings account also sounds like a great idea...

I don't want to sound like a dick, but there's no way your band is going to make $1000 per show in the next couple of years at least. A lot of the time you're lucky to make like £50-60 if anything.
Just save it as a band fund and invest in either t-shirts or recording an ep.
