All my vst have a loud buzzing noise in the background, almost unbearable on higher gain vst, I have checked my cpu and it is far from maxed, I know it is prob cause I am connecting directly into the mic input, but I have noticed others do not have this problem, so is there anyway I could make it sound a bit better?

edit: also I am using mixcraft

Well then fix it! Its going to start at the source! Sure, you can tweak your PC but it'll still sound like shit. Get an interface

Focusrite Saffire 6 is a good start.

It's not going to just be instantly perfect though. The only way to get truly good guitar sound out of a VST is learn how to mix. You can get some amazing tones from free VST guitar amp sims if you know what your doing from a mixing perspective.

You have to dick around with this stuff for months and read up on it and experiment all different types of things before you'll ever really be happy with your sound. But an interface is a good place to start.
