Hey all,

Im in the market for an acoustic steel string guitar. My price range is somewhere between $300-$700. I'd prefer a thicker neck and a loose feeling on the strings and a cut out would be good but not necessary.

Please, suggest away.

seagull original s6 has a shorter scale for looser feeling strings, and it has a 1.8" nut as well as a nice fat neck - my favorite neck, in fact. it truly is a great sounding guitar, but no cutaway. there are few guitars with a cutaway that aren't acoustic electric, and that means more money into the electronics, less into the actual guitar - or higher cost overall.

here are a few seagulls with the wider neck and cutaway, as well as electronics - they're $29 over your stated price, although maybe if you shopped around you could get them down to $700. they all have a solid top and laminated back and sides.

most of the ibanez guitars i played had poor quality sound - cardboardy and low volume. they also have thin necks.

While Ibanez is great for electric guitars and basses their acoustic lines never really impressed me.
I do like the XLR out you find on some Ibanez acoustics though.
