i picked up my Ibanez Pristege 3550MZ about two months ago, and absolutely love it. i want a second shredder for an alternate tuning.

i know there were some in the 80's that were supposedly brilliant, but dont know the model numbers.

i want to pay as low as possible to get at least the bottom tier of the pristege.

i do not want an Ibby with a poor quality trem.

i also dont want it to feel like junk in comparison to the 3550

i would be open to the S series or RG series.

used is fine

local market is tampa. they have 1750 on there for like $500, but i think i can do better deal wise. plus he says it has a dent the size of a dime and wear and tear. which isn't an issue unless there is a lot of fret wear.

RG1570s are (I think) about the cheapest RG prestiges and they tend to be pretty awesome.

As far as old model RG goes the 550 is usually crazy popular too, if you can find one used it should be a good score.

Happy hunting.

1750? Is it perhaps a 1570? Anyway, if it is, it's a great guitar. Basswood, but great pickups if you like a lower/deeper tone. $500.00 is fair if it's not too abused. I paid $700 but mine was pristine.

For that price, I seriously doubt you could find a better solid body electric. It has some real nice features. The ability to select the pickups in all those different configurations makes for a helluva lot of tone options. And I love the ZR system on my prestiges. They make string size changes so easy and keep the guitar perfectly in tune for hours of play. I'd jump on one if I didn't already spend over 10 frigging grand on guitar gear in the past 6 months. There is only one feature of the SV series I do not like, the placement of the output jack, I hate it. The more rounded edges are pretty comfortable too, I actually like it over the RG series. But in the end, I preferred the RG's cuz I hate the output jack placement so much. It really gets in my way right there. Still, if you like the sound, get it.

RG920QM I know it's a Premium, but it is amazing...you have got to try it. I played one at my local guitar shop, and I just fell in love. Picking up the orange one this weekend.

By the way: It retails for about $799-$899 American.

i am looking for a better deal than that going price it would have to be cut quite a bit.

i am also mainly interested in Team J Craft or one of the 80's-90's models.

i bought my 3550MZ Prestige for less than $700 new at guitar center, it just had sat there so long nobody bought it and i haggled them down.

Angus is right.

Go for a pre "Prestige" 5XX series RG or S

Awesome guitars and very well priced these days.

If you have to get a Prestige, go second hand again and look for a 1570 and then use the money you saved for new PUPs.

Agreed!

If you feel attention-whorish, J Custom S8570; or S5470Q (quilt top), for a bit less $$$. Or,
S5470F (flame), for even less. I like the Aftermath and Miracle Man with Mahogany and Maple.

is the trem on the 1570 decent? i know nothing of Ibanez trems. it was mentioned on here that the 3550MZ was more solid.

what is a good used price for a Prestige 1550? i see one at $500 on TGP atm, but i am going to look around first a little bit.

it just sucks because there are no good ibanez dealers around here. there are two shops that carry them. at the first one i had never seen a prestige there and asked and the owner got offended after i asked him if he carries any high end or maybe i said decent
Ibanezs. he has always had a stick up his rear though.

the other shop never has anything in stock. i think they are slowly going under. TBH it's sad to see a mom and pop shop close to potential shutting down.

The trem on my 1570 is the same as on my 4570, and I love it.
