Can anyone direct me to exercises or types on how to strum only a few strings.
I don't usually play chords, but I can and know many.
Bar chords are easy, but I need help controlling how many strings I strum when I only want to strum certain ones.

any tips?
I know practice makes perfect but it would help if someone could direct me to specific exercises for this.

thanks

Practice. I know you probably didn't want to hear that word, but it's the only thing that can help. Practice playing the chords slowly - controlling which strings you strum. Gradually build up speed. Over time, you will be able to control it.

I can. It just took practice.

ok, thanks. I guess I'll just have to make my own exercises for myself.
Sometimes I suppose I like my hand held when it comes to practicing some things.

Specific exercises?

Take a bunch of chords that use varying numbers of strings and stick them one after another. Play various rhythmic figures. Enjoy.
