Just feel like talking about this because my parents have been married for 20 years and it's safe to say my mom controls most of it. For as long as I can remember, my parents always yell at eachother either over the debt that they've been in because they don't know how to finance, my dad yells at my mom because he never gets anything in return for working all day and all night, and my dad really does go crazy.

Right now, my dad is going apeshit on my mom and sister because my sister was being a smartass to my dad and my mom was backing my sister up. Calling them both bitches and all that.

Just wondering, is your parents' relationship typically like this? Or are mine just wrong for eachother?

My parents are always fighting. I think its what happens when you've gotten tired of one vagina for so many years.

It's ok, if you listen hard enough you'll hear them having make up sex later.

I'm pretty sure the last time they had sex was when they conceived my little brother, who is 10 years old.

yep, especially before they split.

My dad constantly threatens that, but never follows through. The closest they've been to a divorce is when my dad got mad at something and went to a motel for like a week.

Yeah sometimes but it's ok, I like it when my mom is angry at me the sex is better.

well if financial problems are the real strain on their relationship then a divorce would make their lives all the more strenuous. in that case they're probably better off together as long as shit doesn't get too out of hand.

Never heard them yell at each other before and they rarely have minor arguments.

Not to that extent usually, TS; and certainly neither of them started yelling at us if they were arguing. They used to fight (and I mean physically) and argue a lot when they/we were younger. They've calmed down a lot now though, and hardly ever argue properly. Even when they do it's just raised voices, rather than screaming and bawling and fighting.
#20
No. Can't remember them ever yelling at each other.

Pfft, no. I'm not poor.

It's crazy because my dad makes around 100K a year and we're STILL in a mess with money. And I don't really do anything, it's my sister and my little brother who do all the things that cost money. I buy all my own stuff because I know that they'd do a bit better with me not spending their money.

It's ridiculous.
#23
No, they're usually in control unless Jimmy Buffett is in town.
This is why I don't like arguing on the internet.

Maybe they're arguing over which one of them loves you more.

I love you =] I can't say I was very fond of you when we first started talking because you trolled the hell out of my threads, but after talking to you here I've grown very attached to you.

Yeah, write to my fanclub about it, honey.

My dad does whatever my mom decides on. He doesn't argue back but they disagree on practically everything so there's a LOT of passive aggressive behavior going on. I'd almost rather they just yell at each other and get it over with because when they're mad at each other this can go on for weeks.

Actually, I remember them yelling at each other once and it was horrible so I don't ever want that to happen again.

Probably! The only thing I do wrong is fail some classes in highschool, and I get shit for that, but my sister can go 2000 texts over her 5000 text limit a month and cost them an extra 150$ and THEY GLADLY PAY FOR IT.

What in the heck.
#27
My dad will occasionally and my mom won't yell, but she'll hold her own for sure.

When my family gets going, we become logic machines and our points are fueled by our rage. Don't get into angry debates with us, lol. It's beautiful to watch really.

My parents met recently at my sister's graduation after 10 years of living at opposite ends of the continent to each other. It was awkward as hell, but there was no shouting.
#29
Oh hell yeah. My parents divorced 17 years ago, and for good reason.
I've got the spirit, but lose the feeling.
#30
Hardly ever, they're best mates, but they used to have shouting matches and walk out on each other and punch things and whatnot.

Most definitely... Split 14 years ago.... But at least the shouting stopped
#32
Nope. No shouting, no fighting... occasionally a disagreement. But what's awkward is when you're at a friend's house, and HIS parents start fighting. They were shouting at each other in the living room, which was the only way to get to the front door. So I couldn't leave.

Nope.

Except in court when they're arguing over child support and property and stuff, but I'm not in the middle of it so it's all good.
#35
My parents would fight once in a while, but for the most part it was good, there was times when it got real bad, but then it calmed down for years, up until the divorce.

Which, by the way was because. I shit you not. My mother didn't like the car my dad and I picked out for myself, AND that we didn't love Jason Mraz as much as she did.

Now its just one way arguments with herself, through text at my dad. which he keeps because she tried to file a lawsuit on us for not liking mraz.

One of my friends parents would do that. It was awkward as shit. It was even worse because my parents never fight, so I wasn't used to it.
