I observed that all the bolt-on PRSs use a standard neck pocket, like most bolt on around:

BUT i discovered that in the 90's the first Bolted neck that PRS made were more of a bolt-in style:

Obviously the second and earlier way to bolt the neck allowed greater access to high frets. It seams they kinda delined...
Any thougts why its not did the same way now?

Different body style. The CE's were essentially just a Custom 22/24 with a bolt-on maple neck, so they kept the joint basically the same. The DC3 has a different body, so they made a new joint for it I guess.

I wouldn't say the DC3 has worse upper fret access either, that heel is pretty small.

Yeah my CE22 is a 2002 model, and it has a neckpocket exactly like the Custom/Standard. When they were introduced it was for "working" musicians as a affordable version of a Custom 22/24

I thought the CE was just a different version of the custom. It was never a cheaper budget custom though?

It's just a different guitar with a different sound. It's also been around for as long as PRS, not 2002.

The CE stands for classic electric (bolt on). It was originaly designed to be a cheaper alternitive to the Custom, not a cheap custom (sorry I wasn't more clear ). Everything is the exact same minus the bolt-on maple neck.

And yes they have been around since @'90 I was just stating mine was a 2002 and had the same style neck pocket as the TS thought were only from the 90's.

You wont regret it I bought mine new in 2004 (it sat in the store for 2 yrs) and got an amazing deal because of it $1425, they wanted $1995!! Easily the most comfortable guitar I have ever played, and the pickups are great for anything.

But really it is only on loan to me right now, I gave it to my son for his birthday as his first guitar. Yes hes only 1 now, so I still have a few good yrs left with her!
