Im thinking of putting some sd blackouts or emg 81/85 combo in my schecter C-1 classic to replace the sd sh-4 and sh-2 in it.
Ive been thinking about this for a long time and I awlays decided not to do it dont know why .

Anyways Im just looking for some feedback, what do you guys think?

I play thru a 97' 2 ch. dual rec, and I mostly play melodic death metal, or lamb of godish type metal.

The sd sh-4 and sh-2 work great for lamb of god type tones but they lack when it comes to death metal.
My gear-
Schecter C-1 Classic
Mesa Boogie 2 Ch. Dual Rectifier(blackface)
Avatar 2x12- v30s
And some pedals

For sale Minty Ibanez RGA7 seven string with tour grade hsc $330+s/h or best offer!
PM me if interested

LoG uses passives..

Well, the only thing I can say is that you shouldn't switch just because you want to switch, you have to see some form of improvement or difference by changing.

Also, blackouts slays EMG in my opinion, but I use neither, I'm a passives man

Morton uses dimarzio breeds in his main axe.
Adler uses sd sh-6 and 59.

I thought Adler used SH-4... But on the other hand, I'm no-where near a fan.
Well, we live and we learn

The breed is a very good pickup though, I'm a Duncan man, but I could really see myself using a breed combo. Maybe you should try some DiMarzio if you feel you need a new tone?

Dont really need a new tone so to speak just a more suitable setup for melo-death, the sh-4 and sh-2 dont really cut it.
But I dont want to completely lose the cleans or clean headroom I get with the sh-4, sh-2 combo.

Niklas Sundin of Dark Tranquility uses the SH-10 Invaders, they have a brutal distortion, and they are more powerful than an active. Many like the SH-6 distortion, they are a bit more aggressive and cutting.

I'd go for the EMG 81/60 set.

EMG X if you want a more organic tone.

Also, EMG X > Blackouts in every way.

Blackouts are what EMG X wants to be when they grow up

EMG X series imo, for Death Metal and other such genres they are just epic. I didn't like the blackouts when I tried them, thought they were worse than standard EMGs.

An 81 bridge, 60 neck combo would be the shizzle I think. And get the X series versions, I'm sure you can get the 60 as an X and deffo that you can the 81

I have a pair of blackouts in mahogany neck thru superstrat. I find them to be quite warm sounding, lots of lower mids. However they don't sound muddy. Never played emgs so I can't compare.

Not even! The X's have better (less sterile) cleans, and a more powerful distortion.
