Is it an RG870?

Looks kinda like a RG8570Z, but they don't come with offset inlays, a variation of RG870Z maybe?

The MLF boys got it right

That has a very similar finish to my Les Paul, except mine's faded. How the shit do you manage to afford all these guitars?
#11
very nice

yours has a nice flame to the neck that i don't think mine has (i have a sheet over the stand my rg's on and i cba taking it off to look )

the rosewood's a wee bit dry on mine, though, and yours looks similar... i don't think ibanez uses as nice rosewood as it used to (which is about my only complaint about the guitar- my 470 has nicer rosewood ).

I'll have to put the Classic T models on my to-try list. Shame the finish options there are Anachronism Gold, Nuclear Waste and Aged Clown, because in principle the plaintop is right up my alley.

Presumably because the CCF (Combined Corksniffing Forces) of MLP and Gibson forums would rise up against them, plunging the land into war.

That guitar is sexy.

In the end, the only question is: what bass would Jesus play?

I think he's a Fender Jazz guy.

I hate the color. You should sand it down and paint it Schecter Hellraiser red.

Nope, see my sig for that one....

Tom, what pickups are on that? It looks nice, how's it play?

Oh and what wood, and is it new or used? The blue case interior makes me think it is a few years old maybe. And the trem too. I think all the new Prestiges get the Edge Pro or Edge Zero trems with the ZR thingy (tech. term). WAKE UP ALREADY!

Its gorgeous, it sounds huge and I think I am in love with a guitar for the first time in a while.

Review:

Ok so to look at it isnt quite your normal "metal" RG and to be fair it isnt a metal guitar. The specs are as follows...

Body: 2 piece Mahogany body, nice thick Maple cap.

Neck: 24 Jumbo Frets, Original Wizard neck, 5 piece maple and rosewood board.

Electronics : PAF Pro, Blue Velvet, PAF Pro and 5 way selector, tone and volume.

Bridge: Edge Pro.

Extras: Hardcase, Prestige tool kit and that awesome Ibanez Instruction manual.

Looking at those specs, this RG seems to be more aimed towards softer, bigger sounding rock than the usual Basswood bodies Shred machines. Its still retains that Ibanez feel but the sound is unlike any other RG I have played or owned. The Dimarzios are great, the PAF isnt my favourite bridge PUP but its nice and has a nice distinct tone, I would imagine with something a bit more exciting in the bridge this guitar would really scream. It can certainly play anything, but its not really the all out metal machine you might expect.

I am a big big fan of Ibanez and MIJ are my favourite 3 letters. This is no different, its not quite the guitar I was expecting, its a thin necked, small bodies massive sounding guitar, the neck is fast and the frets are level and perfectly finished. As you can see, the top is flawless and the 2 piece mahogany body is a nice touch, I mean its rare to get 2 piece Gibson guitars!

I do like this guitar, I like it a lot, epecially as I compare it direc tly to my memories of my old JC, its up there with them and depending on who you ask there is a reason for that....

The RG3270 is a rather odd guitar in that it is seen by many as a J Custom that never was. Depending on who you ask, it is a J Custom that was labled as a Presitge for the International market, or becaue they built too many. Either way, its a rare guitar and they were only built in 2003. I dont know if I would say its quite the same quality as a J Custom, my old JC ran circles round this, but it is a very well built, good looking and fantastic sounding guitar.

I bought this for a damn good price and hopefully I wont lose any money on this, but I would be surprised if I sold this anytime soon ( he says ) but as I have GAS for a PRS CE24 I cant make any promises.

Thanks for reading and I am still upset you guys didnt get it

Also look at how much the previous owner he got when he traded his JEM in for it!!!!!

Sounds like a pretty sweet guitar. How's the Paf pro in the bridge?

One more question, are J Customs really worth the price? I mean, when it comes down to it, is it truly a better crafted guitar made with better wood, or does it just look nicer than a good Prestige?

I dont know really. I would say it really depends on the buyer.

The J Customs have a lot of features that the regular RGs dont get, they get nicer tops, different body woods and they used to also get the Original Edge as well as IMO a nicer neck profiles and Fret job.

The ones I have played have been better feeling and built that the usual Prestige. But this thing is pretty much identical in quality to my old one. Difference is there are a about hundred of these and not 10.

I like it in the bridge, and I like it in the neck... just if I were speccing it out I don't think i'd put the two paf pros in there, as the neck ends up being a fair bit louder than the bridge. my two cents, anyway.

The j-customs I've tried were a fair bit nicer than the prestiges i've tried next to them, though as tom says, this particular prestige is pretty nice.

Just depends, i guess. the 3270 was (supposedly) only for the mij market, and i've heard some reports saying that they basically are j-customs, but I haven't been able to corroborate that.

Does anyone know if the RG3120 is comparable? There's one at my local GC for $600. I haven't seen it in person, I just checked their website, but it looks minty.

I'd probably have driven down there by now and checked it out, except it's trans red, and my least favorite guitar color imaginable is red

Sort of, but it has the Original Edge ( better than the Pro IMO ) and a Tonezone in the bridge..

Matrix Claw did a good review a while back:

https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=870538

It sounds like a solid guitar. I'd love to get one, but I don't think I can get past the that red. I guess I'll have to wait until I come across another. In the meantime, I'll concentrate on selling my S5470 to fund it.
