i've just seen this video with jeff tweedy playing "dawned on me" just with his acoustic guitar and i immediately fell in love with this version. i am pretty bad in picking chords out of a song, so i was wondering if anybody more professional could help me out here? i would really appreciate it!! thanks!

Here's a great resource for whomever may be trying to transcribe this song into acoustic guitar chords. It's the NPR Tiny Desk Concert that they performed last week: http://www.npr.org/2011/10/13/141331825/wilco-tiny-desk-concert

I'd love to see chords for this song as well.

“Dawned On Me"

Tweedy plays it tuned down one whole step to D with different chord structure but the same chords. Pat plays it like this. The 2 together give a great sound. note I attached the txt as the formatting isnt perfect. go to the npr vid and play along. You will get it. I fixed the txt and re copied here. still slightly off on the timing of the changes in the body . the new txt opened well on my mac

here is the Jeff Tweedy part I ma sure this will format poorly so i will attach it to the post I will try to up this as a tab but it seems to not be allowing me to add another Dawned On Me entry as I can't preview it... Stay tuned. Maybe someone else can check it and up it if I can't

"Dawned On Me"

This is Jeff Tweedy's part on the tiny Desk Concert Video form NPR.
Note he is tuned down a whole step down from standard tuning: DBCFAD

The intro is a Repeated Chord change from:
1) first position D/E chord Varient : 004232
2) Then the open Now B 5th string then
3) D/A: 020x32

Listen to the recording. Not having good TAB skills the description above must suffice

After watching & listening a few times I think he's actually in Drop C tuning. Basically it's Standard D with 6th string tuned down another full step to C... or, I guess, Drop D tuning with all strings tuned down another full step. Tab is more or less the same.
I put the notes in quotes because of course these aren't the actual notes, just the fingerings you'd use if you were in standard tuning.
You can play "D" variant as 004232, and doesn't really matter if you hit the bottom string a little the other chord in the main verse riff (020232 or 020xxx, something like that).
Also "Em" is 222000, and "G" x20033

Try it, sounds pretty good.

Great song BTW. Love the tiny desk version. Kotche's "drum kit" is a awesome.
