Ok, so this is a purely theoretical question.
But pretend I'm making a stereo rig. Say I have a Marshall head and a Bogner head, each with a 4 ohm speaker output.

If I wanted to run the two heads into a single stereo cab, would it be a cab with two 4 ohm inputs?
It may be an obvious answer but I know nothing, and plan on one day eventually having a stereo rig, and just thought I'd ask.

i think so, im pretty sure stereo cabs like a mesa 4x12 are 8ohm mono and 4 or 16 ohms stereo

Back to front.
Stereo is two banks of 16 ohm speakers in parallel - so two independent 8 ohm inputs
Mono is either all four 16 ohm speakers in parallel (4 ohms) or all four wired in series/parallel (16 ohm)

Your theory is correct, but you may have a hard time finding a cab like that. A 4x12 w/ 8 ohm speakers could easily be wired the way you descrbe.

I'm just more confused now..

I don't know how to explain it any clearer, sorry.

Yes. The answer to your question is yes. Don't worry about the rest until you get there.

Fuck.

Basically this
Stereo-

Input 1> Speaker 1 (16)
>Speaker 2 (16)

Input 2> Speaker 3 (16)
>Speaker 4 (16)

Total- 8 per input

OR

For 4 ohms

Input>SPK 1
>SPK 2
>SPK 3
>SPK4

At 16 each

For 16 ohms

Input> SPK1+SPK2
> SPK3+SPK4

Rules for calculating impedance-

For series combinations (assuming Z=impedance)
Z(total)=Z1+Z2+........Zn, where the Zn's are the impedances of each speaker

For parallel 1/Z(tot)=1/Z1 + 1/Z2 +.........1/Zn (here you need to calculate 1/Z then flip it over.)
