So this might be old news to some, but I haven't seen thing before and I wonder if anyone has actually tried it out.

It's a Sitar simulator pedal by EHX. I imagine you could get a similar effect by combining a POG2 with a Cathedral Reverb, but still a cool toy I guess.
Epi Sheraton II or MIA FSR strat > wah Q535 > fuzzface > Keeley C4 > Qtron > Whammy > Liquid Chorus > Triboost > Hotcake > BigMuff > Small Stone > VolumePlus > SpaceEcho > Cathedral Reverb > LoFi > MemoryMan > BYOC vibrato > DD-7 > Vox AC15 C1

It seems pretty cool but I find myself asking how often I'd actually use it outside of maybe like, one song...

I watched the demo video where the entire music was produced by the Sitar pedal and it sounded pretty good. Mind you they were playing a very specific scale to get a more authentic feel. I haven't tried it out and don't think I will one demo is enough. On top of that the pedal isn't cheap so it's not even a cheap toy. Where and in what application would you use it for other then doing movie scores for bollywood lol...?

Could be useful in certain genres, namely neo-psych or Mahvishnu Orchestra style prog/jazz.

i dig ambient, and can imagine having a lot of fun with that. i plan to pick up a HOG when other gas is releved by the 'spending more cash syrum'

right now i am running a Fulltone Clyde> Voodoo Lab Proctavia> OCD> Speed Twin(6L6)> Electric Mistriss> Voodoo Lab Micro Vibe> Malekko 616 (with modulation switched on to kind of square wave tremolo effect).

i can get some pretty interesting tones already, but throw that in there with a freeze i think i would be in heaven.

ya to be honest I love ambient stuff too and I can never have too many delay/reverb/spacey effect pedals... if it weren't for the price tag I'd probably get it. I'll just have to wait for a used one I guess.

BTW trashed, if you haven't gotten the EHX Freeze yet (and you don't mind spending a little more), I'd go for the Cathedral reverb. It has an "infinite sustain" mode which is essentially what the Freeze is based on, plus all the reverb goodness. I was considering a Freeze but got the Cathedral instead and I haven't looked back, but if you don't have the money and/or you already have a reverb that you're satisfied with (or just want a simple pedal), then I would go with the Freeze. =)

thanks for the tip, i was planning on a cathedral as well, so that knocks another thing off of my list.

I just saw this at my music store yesterday and had they not been closing up I'd've tried it then and there. I've been looking for a good sitar emulator for a while now and would love to have it in my chain. Next week when I pick my gear up from repairs I'll try it out and get back to ya.

ok cool sweet androidred... it would be nice to get a UGer's review of this thing.. maybe you can do a review? =)

Glad to help Trashed... since you were thinking of getting the Cathedral anyways, get that one first, and if you still feel the need for the Freeze, go for it =)
