I think there's no actual group called "anonymous". It's more like an attitude or way to see things.

Their hacktivism is actually getting to be quite important. Just look at Syria -- they are actually proving to be real assistance to the opposition struggle. They're defacing Syrian websites, which helps raise awareness; but more importantly, they're providing TOR bridges to help Syrians access the internet. Saying they're nothing more than laughable is blatant disregard of their very real merits.

I liked when they were about saving cats.
Now I think they are pretty stupid

This. The importance of Anonymous is two-fold:
1. The protests which garner media coverage show that there is opposition to the established order of things, which resounds with people across the world.
2. The Hactivist Corps has actually been an important tool in the Arab Spring. Its ability to tear down the walls of government-controlled communication has proved to be essential in the fight for democracy.

Other than that they are all toolbags.

Lets forget then about their work in Egypt, Libya, Syria and Yemen.

Without their act of organisation and keeping communication pathways open in Tunisia, the riots would have been crushed and the whole domino effect wouldn't have even happened in the first place.

Meh.

Most of the time they're just a couple of script kiddies, but they've pulled off a couple amusing attacks. They'd probably be a better group if they actually had a tighter leadership. Anyone can claim they're "Anonymous" though, which I think probably happens more than anonymous themselves attack.
#25
I think them bringing attention to internet security and censorship is cool.
#27
They were intriguing about 4 years ago, but it's become such a bastardization of what it used to be, and back then it was still a little bastard.

Anonymous speaks for itself. Bunch of 14 year old kids who think it's cool to rebel.

Mabye once they have a bit of responsibility in their lives they'll appreciate life for what it is.
They should get a job and make some friends.

Everyone is anon on the internet anyway unless we give out personal information. Their special-ness of rebellion is invalid by the internet's nature.

Nobody is anon on the internet. You can only make it hard to find the details.
#35
I know, but its not like i'm going to stalk your FB and find out where you live

But that's not to say that it doesn't happen by any means.

My dad thinks these guys are one of the best things to happen in our country for a long time, but I think they're a bunch of annoying little twits who just want to rebel. It causes problems sometimes......

It's something anyone can call themselves, ranging from genuinely good people doing helpful things, to twats looking to join in on large-scale practical jokes, to 15-year-olds who want to pretend to be supervillains and post embarrassing videos on Youtube using Microsoft Sam.
#40
Plenty of people saying they are 14 year olds.

I don't think any 14 year olds could hack like anonymous can
