Sounds good, if this works out people might start admitting that a lot of illegal drugs are rather harmless (even if only when in context with smoking and booze.)

Opinions?

Might make a poll in a bit.

You keep seeing songs like KoC, SMBH, and Hysteria showing up on games, but I want Micro Cuts on either Rock Band or Sing Star. I want to see numerous masses of kids staring at the tv wondering what the hell they're supposed to do.

Sounds like a good idea: the thing they need most of all is to run into a rave and party their arse off until 5am. At least, that's what I normally see with people on Ecstasy...
Didn't they begin trialling it for Parkinsons Disease at one point?

Stands to reason: it helped me through the worst of my depression so I'm guessing it has a multitude of uses.

I assume they'll give patents a smaller dose then what's in most tablets taken for fun.

they've been doing it for a while. they're at the point where they're seeing how well subjects who have relapsed will react to a second round of treatment.

also magic mushrooms and lsd are being tested to treat end of life anxiety in terminal cancer patients with favourable results.

They may be with the proper dose. But when used for recreational purposes, people take either too much, or use them for too long, then they're harmful.

ecstasy is actually uuh, really really really bad for you...

but since this is a legitamite, legal (?) experiment, they'll probably use pure uncut mdma right... which has still got its side effects but shouldnt be so bad

I'm glad you got to his post before I did.

This reminds me of all the (admittedly, second-hand) information I've heard regarding the benefits of psychiatric therapy on patients who were given MDMA by their psychiatrists/psychologists (can't remember the difference right now) before MDMA was labeled a Class-whatever substance in the USA

It was initially used in couples' therapy because it helped people open up.

I can't imagine wanting to break up a marriage if I was high on MDMA though. It'd make you remember how much you loved them and forget all the bad bits.

Yes, that sparks my memory more. From my experience with it, I imagine it'd be absolutely fantastic for therapy in that scenario!

MDMA was being explored for a bunch of stuff before Ronnie banned it for political gain.

So like a shit ton more legal things than illegal ones?

I'm interested to see the results of this, and where the government takes it should it prove an effective and ultimately usable therapy.
Personally I greatly dislike MDMA, but the government's stance on currently-illegal drugs is debatably hypocritical at the best of times.

Talking about drug laws always winds me up. Of all the political positions I hold, the ones about drugs seem to be the most self-evidently true. It beggars belief that tabloid newspapers can so effectively whip up hysteria.

Ecstasy and MDMA are generally really not that bad for you. Trust me, I'm a licensed physician.

MDMA is a drug that shouldn't be done all the time, given the large ammounts of serotonin being used up. Which is why it may have adverse reactions with many on anti-depressants and other drugs that work on those receptors.

That being said, MDMA is one of the least harmful drugs out there.

EDIT: street ecstasy can be bad, not from MDMA itself though. It could be bad if lets say someone cuts it with meth, or other speeds are popular. Which would be avoided if it was just legal. Don't want to start a big political debate here, just saying

it really depends, ecstasy here is almost always cut with a bunch of other stimulants.

i'm talking in terms of mdma= pure powder and ecstasy= whatever dealers here call "ecstasy" XD

Well if it has medicinal benefits then I don't see what's wrong with it.

But for recreational use, I'll pass on drugs, not my kind of thing.

When ever I think legalization of all drugs, ecstasy always comes to mind. MDMA on its own taken at reasonably intervals should do next to no harm, how ever the prohibition of it is causing it to be cut with shit and just generally a whole lot more dangerous. The thing that got me out of taking drugs in general was a night when I had some E cut with meth, it was the worst goddamn night of my life.

tl;dr
E should be at least legal for medicinal use
