@ 1:14, he starts in with some harmonics that just can't figure out.

There are a few variations in this part of the song depending on which tab i look at. However, i've tried to isolate the harmonic on all of them, and it never sounds the way it does in the recording.

Has anyone figured this out?

It's just a pinch harmonic, dude.
The sound that's produced depends on what fret your holding down and where the pinch harmonic is done on the string.
Just try finding the right pitch yourself.

this is what i've tried many many many times before posting here. This post is my last resort, as i've tried picking up and down the string on all the frets i can find from tabs. none of them seem to produce the sound i hear.

But that might be because i've never tried using hammer-on or pull-off technique with a pinch harmonic... so i'll mess with this to see if i can get it.

e----------------------------------------------------------
B-----------------------------------------------------------
G--------------------------------------------------------
D----------------------------------------------------------
A-4^h5------3^h4---------2^h3-----------2^h1------
E-------4444--------333333------2222222------111111
palm mute the low e string notes

not the same frets he plays but thats whats commonly found in a lot of thrash based riffs, its more common with a hammer off while descending dime just like reversed it

the ^ is a pinch harmonic h is hammer on

hope you can do this now
