What are some cover songs that are very different from originals? Some bands cover songs and leave them mostly untouched, and some just don't give a flying poopy and they do whatever they want (usually leaving the listener WTFing and rabbling in anger.)

So what are some cover songs that are pretty different from the originals?

Here is Judas Priest's cover of "Johnny B. Goode":

vs. Chuck Berry's Original:

Rolling Stones - Love In Vain (Robert Johnson)
"The man that hath no music in himself, nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds, is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils. The motions of his spirit are dull as night, and his affections dark as Erebus. Let no such man be trusted."

Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real covering Pali Gap by Hendrix. They actually sang the lyrics to Hey Baby (another Hendrix tune) over the instrumental of Pali Gap. I thought it was pretty cool.

A "tubescreamer" is a person paid by a guitarist to stand behind the amp and scream at the tubes. This terrifies the tubes into overdriving and delivers a thick, harmonic-rich tone.

Every Johnny Cash cover. If Johnny Cash did a cover of your song, its not your song anymore.

Yes it is.

I always thought Kansas' rendition of Eleanor Rigby was waaaay different from the original Beatles version.
G(g)od was like: "Make you an ark of gopher wood; rooms shall you make in the ark, and shall pitch it within and without with pitch."

And i was like: "What's gopher wood?"
