I recently purchased an M-Audio recording interface for use with Reaper on my PC at home. So, in the interest of reducing latency I'm using the ASIO drivers when recording, setting the output to the M-audio line out and then headphones into that yadda yadda.

Basically, the output from the headphones during recording is ridiculously low-quality. It makes it hard to sing to or dub over.

I had a similar problem when I used ASIO4ALL drivers with my MIDI controller.

I'm basically just wondering whether this low-quality playback is caused by the drivers or by something else, and whether it can be fixed within the settings on Reaper.

Thanks for any responses.

Well if you bought a M-Audio Mobile Pre take it back

If not that is most likely CPU speed, that is causing lag, or if you have like no RAM free that can also me a problem.

It's a fast track usb v2.

Guess I'll close all my other programs and see if it runs better.

Take a look at your computer specs as I know a lot of people run fast tracks.

try lowering your buffer setting for tracking
