To export a GP5 drum track as an Mp3 if I just download the song from UG...

Make sure only the drum track is on (mute the others or press the S button on the drum track in GP) and then go File - Export - MIDI. Once the drum MIDI is exported, find it wherever you put it and open it with itunes. Then right click the track and select "create mp3".
If it doesn't say mp3, if it's another kind of format then go Edit - Preferences - General - Import Settings - Import Using Mp3 Encoder and then right click the song and convert to mp3. This is all assuming you have the latest itunes.

I will try and enter this month, I have moved in to my new house and settled in at uni so should be good to go. I'll have a look at my options now.

Meh, Locust by Machine Head, advanced guitar. Badass song from the new album.

Also I started looking at Bleak by Opeth yesterday so I'll also enter that in intermediate, for guitar and bass.

Also put me down for The Silent Man by Dream Theater on guitar in easy. No idea if I'll get round to this one but stick me down anyway.

i probably won't have time for this, but i might try to learn a dobro piece on banjo.
There's no such thing; there never was. Where I am going you cannot follow me now.
#6
Since I did a piece for the vocal competition, which stalled, can I enter with that? I don't know if I'll be well enough to learn and record another piece, along with all the work I'm putting into my solo stuff...

EDIT: Know what? I have a cover that's totally unfinished. I'll just do that.

Hey Hey What Can I Do by Led Zeppelin, for vocal. Its a full-cover, but I'll just enter the vocal.

Well this week I'm going to be learning "Silent Scream" by Slayer, so I'll enter in. This will be for bass on Intermediate. (Soon I need to change my strings).

Might do a vocal song too. We'll see.

EDIT: Is Issue #6 being delayed or something?
We're all alright!

I'm in. I'll enter in "other instruments" category with Bach cello suite no.2, prelude.

Edit: Oh, the other instrument is Tuba.
I think it's time for a change.

I'd say Oblivion's either easy or intermediate. Probably easy.

Put me in for:

Check My Brain - Alice In Chains, Guitar, Easy.
I shall grant you three wishes.

None of which will work.

Does the above post enrage, offend or confuse you?

Good.

I like my women how I like my guitars. Curvy and like it when I finger them.

You can only enter 1 per tier per instrument.

OP updated. Will enter with . . .

Guitars, Easy: Jet Lag - Simple Plan
Advanced: The Ytse Jam - Dream Theater
Bass, Advanced: The Ytse Jam - Dream Theater
Keyboards: The Ytse Jam - Dream Theater
Drums: The Ytse Jam - Dream Theater
Vocals: The Ytse Jam - Dream Theater

Yeah, I recently listened to it. Thought it was cool.

Nah, I was kidding about the vocals part. Will enter with Moves Like Jagger - Maroon 5

Cheers. Issue 6 will be up this week I think.

PS, if I skipped your entry, maybe 99% chance is that your entry format or confusing. 1% is that I missed it.

I definitely missed the deadline for the August comp, but I'm actually going to be in the studio anyway this weekend, so I'll throw something together.

Coheed and Cambria- The Devil in Jersey City: Intermediate for Guitar and Bass.

Is it cool if I only submit audio? I might not have time to do the split screen video stuff that would be necessary for a three part cover (2 guitars and bass).

Hopefully I can answer this right, but I believe you can if it's each separate instrument and not recorded all together. I only entered in on one instrument on V3.0 with audio so I dunno if that helps.

Nice cover man!

Thinking of entering again. I might do Tongue Splitter by Protest The Hero on guitar since it's next on my Scurrilous to-do list but I kind of want to do a BTBAM song. I'll let you know soon, and I'll try to get this one in on time ha.

How long did it take to get each part down?

Erm well the acoustic section took the longest as it's very different to what I normally play. That took maybe half an hour if that.

The bass was also maybe half an hour (I learned it as I recorded it )

The rest of the guitar parts took maybe an hour combined? Not sure.
#38
That's ridiculous dude. A result of intensive sight reading and/or ear training you might say?
We're all alright!
#39
Well I know the song extremely well anyway because I have listened to it many times before. Also a large part of what I do to learn songs is simply read the tabs without even holding a guitar. Because I knew what the song sounds like and had read the tabs a few times I was basically able to play the whole thing first try, although little bits needed more work than others.

When I record Locust I'll let you know how long it took me to learn it. So far I have listened to the song about 10 times and read the tab a bit, played it through twice I think but there's a lot of stuff there I will have to do note by note, whereas in Bleak there wasn't much that needed that much attention.
