Random stranger's house. It's free.
To be vulnerable is needed most of all, if you intend to truly fall apart.

None. I don't buy guitar equipment anymore, and always feel dread when I have to get some strings at Guitar Center or something. There's just some weird vibe in guitar stores that I don't like.
#7
Guitar Center. Cheaper and than all the other local stores around. Not only that, but they don't give you weird looks for wanting to try out their gear. Oh yea, and sales every other weekend.

Guitar Center or an online site

DV247.com

They've usually got the lowest price for the thing i'm looking for. Either that or eBay.

Also I think this is the first thread where a person gets other people to be advertise rather than people attacking an adbot.

you can get some pretty good deals on Kijiji if you look
You can always find a place to go if you can keep your sanity

That Guitar center, assuming its the boston one, creepy me out too. Its the only place I can go to try out a guitar thats over $1000 around here. but its still creepy.

But I mean like...any guitar store.... Any instrument shop, period, now that I think about it.

I think I will deal with it by never buying another instrument ever again.

I find that too. Theres a lot of overpriced, expensive equipment and asking to try it out just feels damn awkward too :/.

Yeah. And I don't like the people in it. And I've got everything I need guitar-wise anyway. I buy a couple packs of strings when I come across a discount deal and then I'm set for a year or two..

Sam Ash in New Haven. they're nice to me cause they know me and they know i buy stuff.
There's no such thing; there never was. Where I am going you cannot follow me now.
#22
i always check out the local GC and Sam Ash stores but usually end up buying from Musicians Friend or off an ebay store because the savings are much usually. Just the tax on a guitar or amp is a good chunk of change.

GAK. Fast delivery, good prices. I really need to visit their actual shop, I've heard it's a goldmine of instrumental pornography.

O.o

I've always found GAK to be the most expensive one and then some (delivery charges).

My new tactic is to try it wherever I can, then order it online from the cheapest possible source.

I tend to go to Nevada (a massive guitar warehouse in Portsmouth) or Manson's in Exeter. Both are awesome shops. Manson's is pretty small but it's very good. Matt Bellamy gets his guitars made there and John-Paul Jones gets his basses made there. They also made Dave Grohl a guitar.

Music Go Round in Albuquerque, but since I live in Santa Fe now, I shop online because the local music store is expensive as hell. So now I use Ebay to buy guitar/drum gear.
