Hey guys. I posted here a month ago about a dirtiness in my amps sound. I have a Mesa Boogie Express 5:50, and I was playing it through an LTD EC1000 Deluxe.

^ is the original thread. I retubed the amp with the JJ 6L6GC's. It got a little cleaner but still dirty. Last practice I noticed one of my 12' speakers wasnt working. I am assuming that is the reason why my amp is still muddy. I am assuming I am going to have to replace the speaker, so I ask:

1) Should I just replace both speakers for better ones?
2) What would this better brand be?

All help appreciated. I just want a good clean sound.

How do you mean by, "Wasn't Working"?

No sound?
Some Sound?
Hissy?

If there's no sound, it generally means: Not hooked up.

If it's not hooked up then you're running your whole amp into one speaker, causing more breakup from the speaker itself... possibly the cause of your muddiness/dirty tone.

troubleshoot your speakers before wasting money on another speaker.

Yeah. It is not working. I hear a rattling too when I play. When I put my amp on stand by only one speaker is hot, the other is just cold. How do I "hook it up"?

Do you think it just loosened?
