In the later example you would use the side of the pick to tap the e while fretting the d and then pull of to the B when you need to .

it could also be played on the e string i suppose.


To me it sounds more like the first one but the sheer speed of it makes me think that it could be tapped.

Yh ive been practicing it both ways and im now convinced its not tapped. Its not too hard either since im used to trilling.
