Hi guys,

This is the dumbest question you will ever hear, but I don't know a huge amount about cabinets, and I'm looking into getting a new one.
I understand that on the back of a 2x12 cabinet, there are two jacks. I'm guessing that they're for putting different inputs to the individual speakers, but if I'm wrong, please correct me. If I'm right, if you only plug your head into one of the jacks, will both the speakers still be working?

Please excuse my insolence...
Cheers guys,
From Liam

Depends on which specific cab you're talking about. Some only have one jack some have a jackplate with two jacks for mono/stereo. Most with two will also have a switch. Hope that clears some of it up. Do you have a specific cab in mind?

Some cabinets work in a dual way, usually either 8 or 16 ohms. Check the information in the manual before plugging anything in. It wouldn't be a disaster to plug an 8 ohms output into a 16 ohms input, but it would be catastrophic to do the opposite.

I'm talking about an Orange 2x12, either open or closed back configuration
