Hey!
My Schools talents day is coming up and me and my band at school have decided to play. So we were searching for a few rock/hard rock songs, with good solos that arent that hard, but at the same time a little challenging. And it should sound good. Don't suggest any songs with a lot of screams and stuff. The audience . Any classic rock songs are also okay. But the solo shouldnt be really hard because I'm just an amateur and I've been playing for 8 months. A few challenging songs I can play including the solos-
Papa Roach - Last Resort
Anberlin - The Feel Good Drag
Velvet Revolver - Fall to Pieces
Iron Maiden - Blood Brothers riffs and Janick's Second Solo and many other IM Riffs.

These are the songs I can play and I'm sure I'll be able to play some harder songs since all the above mentioned songs are pretty easy. But don't make the songs too hard!

Thanks Guys! Really Appreciate all help!

Pro Tip - Neck pickup, tone dial rolled all the way off, makes tuners respond WAY more accurately. I only learned this trick fairly recently, and it actually works.

AC/DC- pretty much any of their songs would be suitable. Simple enough to play, and sound great.
A few guns n roses songs spring to mind, could do paradise city without the outro?

I dont know if "Hallowed be thy Name" is considered little or much challenging, but its epic and that's always good

The solo in Last Resort is really hard. If you can play that, you can play ANYTHING.

I Believe in a Thing Called Love - The Darkness.

All the riffs are easy, and the solos might be challenging but won't post much of a problem.

Any Alice in Chains song should fit the criteria; I'm thinking Them Bones, Man in the Box, Would?, Your Decision are solid songs.
The Kids Aren't Alright by The Offspring is another good one, if you're up for punk

I remember trying to learn some songs for a talent show (that I never ended up playing) and being in your position. I actually planned on playing Feel Good Drag for it
here's a great rock song you could do. Lots of fun, high energy, nice solo:
Long Way Down-Haste The Day: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbNTBCL5veU
(I know it's only a cover, but I like this version better ).

Stand Here With Me-Creed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ehJXBTCpYeo
here's another great one. Great guitar parts, not too difficult solo. Only problem is the alternate tuning...(it's DADF#AD).

Pull Me Back-Red Jumpsuit Apparatus: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7wWpq0PMrw
Great rock song, sweet leads and solo. (hope your singer has a good range for it, though )

Break-Three Days Grace: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4VCpTZye10&ob=av2e
more rock, nice riffs and good solo.

Weezer-Buddy Holly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kjr7US2Z9aY
classic Weezer, everybody loves this song

good luck!
