I'm sure all of us are familiar with this phrase. It's usually used to describe something geared toward kids. But when they say that, is it entirely truthful?

When something is "fun for the entire family", is it really fun for everyone, or is it just for kids and for everyone else to tolerate?
I'm rgrockr and I do not approve of this message.

Fun for kids, tolerable for adults.

There is nothing which I can think of which crosses the age gap in which both young and older can enjoy.

I think it means that the kids can enjoy while the parents are capable of not cursing every single moment they live while doing said thing.

The Lion King.

Eh not quite. I think the feeling of enjoyment has to be simultaneous as in the adult must be able to love the gay sing-a-longs when Timon starts one.

I think sporting events have pretty widespread appeal in terms of age. A lot of little kids like going to baseball games and stuff, and some older people do too.
