Right, so I'm in band practise, bass is working fine, all of a sudden, it stops working, turns out now the bass only work through an amp if I pull on the volume control. Anyone else ever had this problem? Anyone know how to help? This would be appreciated.

Bass is a Squier Affinity series P Bass.

Watch some porn while you play bass, you'll probably end up with something funky.

look for loose wires, solder them back to where they were.

i'd google around for some wiring diagrams if i was you, if you aren't sure about what you're doing.

I know this is a bit of a stretch, but when you say "pull on the volume control" does it pop out, like a push/pull pot? Could it have been converted to active in it's past and a push/pull pot added as an active/passive switch? In which case it's be a dead battery.

But, like I say, it's a bit of a stretch.
