This guitar is going to be for sale very soon. I hate to sell it, but we all know money is tight for a lot of people right now. It plays like a dream. The action is perfect. It stays in tune and sounds beautiful. Every screw is original. I've owned it since 1997. My father owned it before me.

As far as I know from my brief research online, the serial number dictates that it was made in 1967, and could be worth anywhere from $6,500 to $8,000. The serial number is 114912.

Here are some pics I took with my phone. One is really blurry, I'll try to upload a better one soon.

If you could verify this information or at the least share your opinion on what it should be priced at, I would be grateful.

Thanks a bunch!

two dollars

Edit: You should probably post this in another forum. You won't get much help from the Pit as you can see.

Hi. Can someone tell me which guitars are real 24 fret guitars and which are just 22 fret guitars with 2 extra frets added on?

I've seen that same model and year sell for around $4000 to $5000 recently. You're right, money is tight for a lot people right now, and unfortunately that includes a large percentage of the people you would be selling this to. A few years ago you probably could have made another few grand easily, but right now I would have my doubts. Check this one out at guitar-center, although slightly different, even they priced it at $4k:

Fo' reals, I went and checked the serial numbers on the guitar.

Its between a 70-72 from the Kalamazoo plant, worth between 12 and 14 dollars. Nice find!

You think you can trust a guy with an avatar of a pop tart cat shittin rainbows for evaluating your instrument? I don't think so...

He is definitely low balling you broseph... its at least worth double that. When can i pick it up?

Seriously, sell something else. If you wait a couple more years you'll get way more i'm sure

I'm sorry, the highest I can go is $500. I have to make money off of this, and this could sit in my store for months. Plus I'm not even sure if it's authentic 1960's, but I have a buddy whose an expert with guitars. I can call him down to check it out.

Why would you sell it? Sell something else that has a little less sentimental value.

Nobody likes old stuff, $500 is a good offer

Really though, don't sell the thing. I wish I had something like that just to keep in my non-musical family

It's worth and equally shitty SG.

Your guitar was made at the
Kalamazoo or Nashville Plant , USA
approximately in: 1970, 1971 or 1972

1970 saw new words stamped on the back of the Gibson SG’s headstock: Made in USA.

Also only the after 71 they moved to block inlays. Yours seems to have trapezoid inlays . Hence I think yours is a 70 or 71. Probably worth ~$50. But in a recession you'll probs only get about $40 for it.
Cool guitar though

muledit: Are the inlays trapezoid; I can't tell - pictures to blurry

I'll do a trade for it. I've got a similar guitar, but I'm not sure if it's the same. It plays really nice, and has great action. You hardly ever have to tune it and it sounds great. All the parts are original, too. I've had it for maybe 14 years now when I got it from my dad.

I checked it out on the internet and it seems to have been made sometime in the late sixties, worth maybe 7 grand.

Got a pic of it here

From your gibson link:
In 1970, the words "MADE IN USA" was impressed into the back of instrument headstocks (though a few
instruments from the 1950s also had MADE IN USA impressed into their headstocks as well).

It also goes on to say that 100000s could be 1970-1975

Yeah especially since this belonged to your dad and has been handed down
