Well the knife edges and mounting posts (along with any other soft metal part) on the Kahler Spyder that came with my 1988 metal strat are pretty much shot. Now I have to decide if it's possible to get the first guitar I bought with my own money back into shape. I can buy a NOS spyder, but it will have the same glaring flaws as the dying one has.

Anyone else know of anyone that has upgraded from a spyder to a OFR (or the low profile version) ? I'm looking at the routing template and by quick measurements, the current routing for the spyder seems to be almost exact to the template.

From what I understand an OFR is a direct retrofit. No routing required. I believe the pivot studs are also within spec. Can't be sure though.

This is terrible advice. Even worse than the useless dry, sarcastic comment I made.

I'm too old for the Jim Morrison look now. When I was gigging I had a fine arse.

I guess I'll have to think it over.
