Is it wrong to kick it?

I was walking today and this pitbull in someone's yard was going crazy. I thought to myself if a dog ever attacked me (bite my leg or something), I would proceed to kick the crap out of it until it is off my leg. No, I would not continue harming it once I am safe, but if it goes after me then I think I am justified in kicking it quite hard.

I know of a pitbull who has bite people (a few bad bites), no one ever fought back though. The owner would be furious if the person who was bite kicked their dog, but I think they have a right to.

So, if a vicious dog that could legit do some harm goes after you, is it alright to kick it?

yeah. I mean, would you rather severe an artery and bleed out?

Stupid, stupid question. Of course it's alright to kick it. What else would you do, kindly ask it to stop?

I agree, but I know people who would say no you shouldn't harm it, instead try and get out of its grip another way.

I'd boot it off of me and then rip into the owner of the dog. Can't really blame the dog, as it's most likely the owner's fault the dog attacks you.

How? It's already got the head start on you and can outrun you. Tell those people that they should try and outrun a fully grown pitbull.

Yep, kick the thing.

I remember being out on fieldwork (in Ireland for my undergraduate dissertation) when we got hassled and bitten by a sheepdog.
Threw a couple of kicks towards it, but didn't make contact.

What was worse, the owner was watching and didn't do anything, and it was right by a campsite with loads of kids staying there.

Lucky for the dog, we were only going to the shops rather than a day of work. We only had boots, rather than boots, hammers and bags of heavy rocks. Dog like that tries to bite, I'd have had no worries taking a swing with a hammer.

I would buy into it if one of those people was Asafa Powell, but I can't see myself trying it out anytime soon.

I got attacked by a dog once, about 7-8 years ago and I beat the shit out of it. I think it would of teared my flesh of I didn't. its not liek as a human you even have that much of an advantage, not fighting back would just be asking for it

I agree spot on with this. My uncle & aunt just recently had their airdale put down (He took it out back and shot it) because it had cancer, and I mean, is there really any point to it?

Prolonging the suffering for yourself? It's down right selfish too. My stance on it anyways.

you can't kick it. it didn't kick you. if a dog bites you, you should bite it back.

I'd kick it off then come back later in my car and run it over.

The dog has an unfair advantage with its powerful jaws and large teeth - I'm just evening the playing field.

Provoked attack? No...it's your fault you got the dog to bite you.

Unprovoked like OP's story? By all means do it.

When I was 12, I was at her neighbor's house and her adult saint bernard jumped onto her trampoline to get me. It proceeded to tackle me, bite my shoulder, throw me around, then bite my ass, whilst its mate roared in my face the entire time.

If I am confronted with a dog about to attack me, I am going to beat the shit out of it. Nothing was scarier in my entire life than that 30 seconds. I will destroy it.

I read a story about a guy who killed a dog that was attacking a little kid once, and the owner actually called the cops on him and tried to sue him for killing the dog to save the kid (who was only slightly injured).

It was a pretty long time ago, so I have no idea where I read it, though.

As much as I love dogs, I would not hesitate to do the same.

You're supposed to lay down and expose your belly and neck. Dogs takes it as a sign of submission that you respect their leadership and will stop attacking you. The only reason they will bite you in the first place is because they feel threatened by someone they view as superior, so they try to 'take the lead', if you will.

What the shit??? Why would anybody being so ....... frikin violent to an animal? Do you really think they really do it to hurt you......, no, they think they're doing it in self defense so it doesn't make any sense for you to 'kick the shit out of' or 'destroy' it.

To be honest kicking a dog in the head wont to much unless your wearing steel toed boots, dog have pretty damn thick skulls. The dude who said punch it in the nose is right, or bite its nose, since they are ultra sensitive that will mess with it. Then you go home get a bowl of kibbles n bits and pour yourself 500mL of that concentrated antifreeze gel on it and go feed it to the dog and show him why being an intelligent human makes your survive!

Also here in Canada if you are bitten by a dog call the SPCA they will kill the dog regardless of what the owner has to say.

I guess nobody in the pit owns a knife.

You, good sir, have not gone over to your friends house after a hard night of drinking to find 2 dudes passed out in the same room both holding their own flaccid cocks in hand, passed out, with porn on the tv.

If it was unprovoked I'd kick the shit out of it.
Last year I was goin to a friends house before a hockey game and his older sister just brought home a dog, the thing was a previously abused rottweiler. As soon as I open the front door the dog runs up like any normal dog, then proceeds to bite the shit outta my leg.
I kicked it in the side, then it ****ing came back at me, so my buddies dad had to like rip the damn things jaws off my leg.

After that I decided if a dog ever bites me like that again I'm gonna break its neck.
