Its a tone cap. Happens to be a .022 micro ferret cap. Determines the tone of .... the tone.

Google it, you can read all about it.

.022 uF capacitor. It's basically what makes the tone circuit a tone circuit.

will my guitar not work without one?

The tone knobs won't. Just pick up a cheap one at Radioshack and then order a nicer one online if you want. They aren't expensive.

Fixed it. A ferret is a small furry animal, a farad is a unit of capacitance.

Lol. thought that looked funny

Didn't know if they were spelled differently.

does it have to be the same as it says on the diagram? Because i bought one today, and have only just realised i got a 0.22uF cap, not .022uF :/

#13

Your guitar will have a very dark sound with that cap, the values of the caps are important.

Your guitar Will be very bright.

The worst case escenario is you will loose one dollar because they are that cheap, so just use it :p either that or skip putting a tone knob on the guitar.
