First off guys in the pit are assholes and I didn't know where else this thread would belong, im sorry if its not in the right place, but I'd really apreciate some help.

Guys im having a problem here. I can't seem to find any band or song that just makes me want to learn it on guitar and play it!

I was way into van halen but I've kinda gotten bored of playing the same thing over and over.

I recently tried listening to Dokken, whereas I find George Lynch's guitar work AMAZING but the vocals are quite bad IMO. Plus George is too godly for me.

Def lepard was also an option, but there guitar isn't really "there" for me.

I love 70s-80s rock, hard rock, and metal.

Please if you can can you try to inspire me with some music I may not of heard.

I really need some help here guys, thanks in advance.

If you need to kill a man with a 9v adapter? I say strangulate. Or swing the heavy end around and aim for the temple, all depends on your style.

Rush is what I most enjoy playing nowadays. They're pretty diverse so you won't be playing the same thing over and over again.

Hmm, well a lot of U2 is easy. I don't like any of their recent stuff, but the stuff from the 80s is pretty good imo.

write your own stuff and learn that

Rush is awesome, Alex Lifeson uses a lot of chords and arpeggios in his guitar work, which is pretty fun to play. Right now I'm on a Protest The Hero binge. I've been working on learning Bury The Hatchet for a little under a week and it's a TON of fun and not too awfully difficult.

You're never going to get anywhere if you're not even going to try.

Yes, those guys are great players, but to not even try and use that excuse for everything?
Really, dude?

try some between the buried and me or some dream theater.

Or try some metal such as pantera or at the gates

Well im not really into THAT kind of metal, although I do occasinonally enjoy it.

I'd just like some fun to play, not incredible difficult, great 80s metal or rock that really makes me WANT to play.

On a side not any rush songs recommended to play as well?

I know overture and temples of syrinx, and a lil bit of Working man, but the solo is impossible for a guy with slow fingers like me (think tony iommi )

Steel Panther.

Hells yes.

And a response to Sleaze Disease, I have tried and tried on most rush songs and others of the catagory. I do try. I make an atempt for MONTHS so I can try and learn the solo, but I just can't get it down right. I make an attempt, but it always ends u pointless.

Try songs from bands like Iron Maiden or Black Sabbath.

You know that old saying: "Men who play bass in the band have the largest genitalia." Well, it's the same for women.

you got me about a month to late :p. I was in a black sabbath craze for about a year and learned most of their songs.

Iron maiden is great, and fun to play. But once I get to the solos i poop meself.

Don't over think it.

don't take yourself too seriously.

Find a song you like.... play it and appreciate it for what it is.
shred is gaudy music
