i have a peavey windsor and im using it through an old yamaha cab.
it worked for a few minutes and then a really loud humming fuzz noise came over my guitar signal to the point where i could not hear anything but this noise.

is it the cab or the amp? i dont have another cab to test it out. please help

Not necessarily. Sometimes a tube can go bad show no signs of being so.

I'd be looking at two things.
1. Filter capacitors
2. Output tubes

In that order.

If you need to ask that take it to somebody to do for you. It's a pretty easy job and shouldn't cost much to have them changed but it's probably the most dangerous job in the amp if you don't know what you are doing. When people say an amp can kill you even when switched off they are talking about the filter caps.

Its part of owning a tube amp. You will just have somewhat regular maintenance issues.
