Today, we lost a promising star from the world of motorcycle racing. At 24 years of age he was a 250cc world champion and has steadily improved his performance with every race he has ridden in the premier class. In a bizarre accident today at the Malaysian Grand Prix, Marco's bike low sided and instead of continuing to slide of track, it unexpectedly dragged him in the opposite direction to the slide right across the racetrack into the path of Colin Edwards and Valentino Rossi. This happened because his rear wheel after losing grip suddenly regained traction. Another element of his horrific accident was his helmet being ripped off his head in the accident as well. His injuries ultimately led to him passing away just minutes ago.

Marco you will be missed.

My thoughts are with his family and friends.

RIP Marco I guess, but it's kinda odd to put this on a guitar website (Yeah, I know it's the off topic forum, but still).

EDIT: Aw dammit, I feel like a dick.

Devastated. definitely one of my favourite riders. just can't believe it.

Rest in peace.

Whilst I've never been a dedicated follower of MotoGP, I have a lot of respect for those riders' skills.

But as you said yourself this is the off topic forum... Fair shout if he made the thread on Building and Customization, but he didn't. So your post was not needed at all.
Yeah, now you're gonna die wearing that stupid little hat. How does it feel?

Help me to live.

I make custom guitar wiring harnesses and I'm pretty damn good at it!

Was he one of the top racers in the MotoGP? As I say, I've never followed it.

He definitely could have been a contender for the title in a year, maybe 2.

RIP Marco.

He was my favourite MotoGP rider I've watched racing for as long as I can remember, and had never actually seen anyone die (despite seeing Kubica in '07, Rockenfeller and Mcnish at Le Mans, and countless other horrific crashes) and now I've seen 2 people die in 2 weeks.

Horrible stuff, and a terrible week for motorsports.

Fuck this is horrible. I don't watch Moto GP and I don't want to see the incident but this one has hit me hard because I drive a bike myself.

RIP. Absolutely tragic week for motorsport

It's a sad time for motorsport, and such a shame young Marco lost his life after a career that seemed to have a lot of promise, and only be going on the up.

We'll miss you Marco: always.
Rest in peace.
I hope it doesn't seem, like I'm young, foolish, and green.
Let me in for a minute, you're not my life but I want you in it

Horrible accident, dread to think what is going through Edwards and Rossi’s heads at the moment.
He was defiantly one to watch, the top four riders have dominated the sport in the past few years and he was starting to join the leading pack on a regular basis. A big talent and a great character that will be missed
