Is it normal for a player to use similar chords in their tracks with realising it? I often find myself using "Drop D Powerchords" (for lack of better term) that are on the 2,3,5,7, or 8h fret.

I don't feel like my songs sound similar too each other but I don't want to find myself running into that problem. My tracks that I use there chords in range from tunings in Drop D- Drop C.

These chords will also usually be in different orders that they get used. Idk, I guess I just want reassurance that it's normal to instinctively use similar chords.

Almost every Metallica song is made of E power chords, is written in E tuning and use similar chord progression.

That said, I wouldn't bother if I were you.

well all of those are in the same minor scale, so if that is was you are going for then it is fine
