there's only one person in my life that i've ever been scared of. i saw her a few days ago.

american history
things get busy
you get hurt, i get hurt
it takes work,
you know?

you have always loved me
i have always loved symbolism
a mural of a memory of what it's like to be lonely
a few crushed notes, a few cashed checks
some years-old hope and faded ampersands -
i lost touch in all the ways i can.

i saw you the other day
carried yourself like always
more beautiful and older and happy
pretended that you didn't know me
except for how you can
still tremble my hands
still crush me with a look
for all the things i took

i still have your favorite book
if it's even your favorite anymore.
i love the very end here.
so easy to relate to if you have ever been in a serious relationship...
good work. i dont see why nobody has commented yet
it's scary how much i picture much your stuff fitting into my own personal life so neatly. it's a certain magic of relevance and the details you choose.

i am all too afraid because i think this is about to happen on my end

From an emotional standpoint, I wasn't too crazy about it. Not to criticize the subject, I just didn't connect with it.
But from a technical standpoint, this was fantastic. It flowed perfectly, and the rhyming got to me in a way that made me go "damn, I liked that", particularly the ampersands/can bit. I've always been impressed with subtle rhymes like that, using words most people wouldn't think to.
^ Both, for me.
