Can anyone suggest a good way to get a mic and guitar in one box? I don't want to carry a bunch of crap for play for 10-15 people at a BBQ... I'm looking at the battery powered options but that's not a must...

I like my vocals to be a little overdriven as well when I'm playing a rockin jam, if that's an option at all...

I have several courses of action in mind:

Roland Cube (I'm concerned about 2.5W sound quality and volume)
Mic to preamp to line mixer and Guitar to pedal to line mixer to 15w practice amp (lots of little crap to haul around plus power sources for all three)
Just buying a small PA...

Can I just plug a dynamic mic up to a pedal then line mixer then the Practice amp? I don't think the mic level will even be readable in that chain... I don't know.

Budget 250ish...

Electro-Acoustic or Electric Guitar? If it's electric you _need_ an amp, otherwise go PA.

I will be using a RP90 for the effects, if into a PA. Probably be playing a Acoustic w/ Soundhole pickup... Does anyone have experience w/ the DA's of VOX? Are they as good as the Roland Cube Street?

the vox da5 is fine for this.

do that, it's the easiest option here and sounds better than the street cube.

edit: there are probably cute little acoustic amps that do this as well, i'm just not aware of any that are battery operable. but i'm sure they exist. i'd use the da5 though.

If you are serious you'll buy a decent guitar amp AND a PA.

Well, if it's just for a single small gig you just hire everything you need.

I rented gear for years before I could afford my own PA. It's a good way to learn what's what so when you finally get your shit together to buy your own you know what you are looking at.

It's a bbq so everybody's going to be drunk - that means Marshall stack and PA complete with W-bins. Ah the neighbours just love me. I remember once when the cops came to shut us down so one of my mates stole the light off the police car.
