so guys! i know rust is an issue for a few guitarists. those whose hands sweat a lot and whose sweat isnt exactly string-friendly. so how do you guys keep your strings from rust?

I always clean my hands with soap. Removed all grease/oil etc you may have on your hands.
I use an old T-shirt to wipe the strings off after I play.

This dramatically increases it's life.
On playing the Paul Gilbert signature at the guitar store extensively, my missus sighed:
"Put it down now, It's like you love that guitar more than me!"
In Which I replied.
"Well it has got two F-Holes!"

Wash those hands. Clean strings after use. Use string lubricant.

I've also heard of people coating their hands in magnesium powder (available in sports stores or whatever they're called), but I think that does more harm than good.
Ceci n'est pas une signature.

1. Wash your hands prior to playing
2. Wipe down your strings, neck and guitar when finished playing
3. Use coated strings (optional but very helpful)

This is what I do also.

Vastly extends string life

GHS Fast fret+microfiber cloth for strings, occasionally I'll do rubbing alcohol(70%+ isopropyl alcohol)+microfiber cloth if it's more grimy, because alcohol is a hell of a solvent.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

washing hands before playing. definatley has become second nature to me. never got into wiping down the strings thuogh so i suck it up and change strings every 2 weeks or less. i hate coated strings. idk what technology they use so u cant feel them, i can feel them.

unfortunate but ya i just change the strings as soon as i feel rust

The only real answer to the SG vs Les Paul debate is to get a Flying V and laugh at all the suckers who don't have one.

if you embrace inaccurate intonation it can be quite arousing.
