Simple really, what is your favourite year for albums (and EPs) and what albums make it so awesome for you?

Mine is 2003:
Absolution - Muse
Futile EP - Porcupine Tree
In Absentia (Special Edition) - Porcupine Tree
De-loused In The Comatorium - The Mars Volta
Opeth - Damnation
Hail To The Theif - Radiohead

That's a lot of my favorite bands that happened to all release good albums in the same year.

This year has been fucking amazing for progressive metal IMO.

The Human Abstract - Digital Veil
Between the Buried and Me - The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues
Born of Osiris - The Discovery
The Black Dahlia Murder - Ritual
Cynic - Carbon-Based Anatomy (drops in less than a month)
Protest the Hero - Scurrilous
Last Chance to Reason - Level 2
Revocation - Chaos of Forms
Scale the Summit - The Collective

Any year that saw a Mastodon, Coheed, BtBaM or Baroness release was an amazing year for music.

Well my favorite album atm is an '11er and that's Battle Circus by Battle Circus, but that's more Progressive Rock than Metal.

However, 2011 is also the year aforementioned Battle Circus disbanded and Opeth released an album I'm not really interested in .

2009 was pretty awesome: Mastodon, Baroness, Kylesa, Black Cobra, and ASG's split with Black Tusk. I feel like there were a few more too.

...1967, the year of Sargent Pepper, and Are You Experienced?.

i'd say 1998 because

Falkenbach - ...Magni Blandinn Ok Megintiri...
Mithotyn - King of The Distant Forest

i can't think of any others, but those two are cool and i don't really ever keep track of what year bands i like released albums.
There's no such thing; there never was. Where I am going you cannot follow me now.

I love classical, somewhere in the other music you listen to thread I go into detail about it but when you crusing down the highway wearing a slayer shirt smoking a Monte Cristo #4 blaring some Tchaikovsky in a convertible you incite some interesting reactions! That being said disco and a lot of the real bad 80s hair music is stuff I just cant stand, would take a Beiber album long before.

That's not a troll, thats my belief is it so hard for some of you people to be open minded? My iPod is filled with tons of music from the 30's right through to 2011 except for anything country, anything disco and any hair music from the 80s because I cant be bothered with them. If you say 1973 was the best year for albums (example) then your missing out on so many landmark albums from other years, I solved that problem with an open ended question that would cover all genres and years that might have pinnacle albums...yeah that's really trolling...

Also I dunno where the hell you live but its 3:30 in the afternoon here and I am at work, wont be sleeping for at least another 8 hours.

You totally right man, thats what I was getting at with my post which was apparently a troll. You will inevitably miss a year with a monumental album or something and later be like OH YEAH!

somebody LoL'd at my mention of Master of Puppets in 1986 scroll up a bit, probably a fan of Garage Inc...I can't understand how some people can so easily trash talk something like master of puppets then turn around and say bullet for my valentine is a better band, were you born with dicks in your ears?
