I recently purchased a 1983 Electra Phoenix X165 on eBay. It was mostly complete except for the electronics but at least it had the original pickups. The original output jack was a flush mount on the front like on an SG. Somewhere along the way, a previous owner decide it needed to look more like a Strat so he cut a hole to put in the oval angled Strat jack plate. He did a really horrible job cutting the hole and managed to slice into the side of the electronics cavity. So I'm going to have some filling to do anyway. I'd like to restore back to the original jack. I'm concerned that since the hole they cut is partly over the electronics cavity that if I fill it, it won't be strong enough to support the flush mount jack. I suppose I could always relocate the jack a bit too. Any good ideas on how to fill that big a hole? Pictures attached.
