Hello, sorry if this seems like a beginner question or doesn't make sense, I'm not very experienced with theory (though I am learning right now starting from the basics). I'm writing a song which is based on the whole-half diminished scale, mostly using the arpeggio notes from the root (hope that makes sense) and I'm trying to finish the song on a minor chord progression for resolution.

Since the key is in D, i simply went straight from the diminished scale in D and went into a progression in D minor but it just doesn't seem to flow, what I was hoping to accomplish was something like in the song Disavow Your God by Gorod (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ccgqj3KDaVY the resolution is at 1:42) which seemed to flow quite nicely. The song i made was to try emulate this so I could understand it but I just couldn't get it right. I've attached a guitar pro x file of my song to show my attempt, can someone give me some tips as to how to pull this resolution off?
