I have this Guyatone Micro Compressor, and it's not a tone sucker but it's a volume dropper, and when you crank the level then it gets ridiculously hummy and buzzy. are there any mods i can do to make it suck less? or tricks? anything, thanks!

Does it sound the same running on a battery?

Ethan, I don't think that will help much for hum or buzz. If it was hiss I'd be right there with you.

Ah, well, do you think it's just a power source filtering problem? Maybe add a 100 uf cap parallel with the power source into the circuit?

EDIT: Ceramic caps are found in almost everything, they are the small, orange disc looking things with numbers on them.

Sticking in higher quality components may help but it's probably some problem with the circuit itself. it's hard to even start to guess what to do without a schematic in front ones eyes. If you can find a schematic you'll probably get heaps of opinions, lots of pedal builders on this forum.

The battery rules out mains hum. That would have been easy to fix.
