Hey guys.

So basically my Marshall DSL has a 16ohm, 8ohm and 4ohm option. But my cab only has 4 and 8 ohm options. I've tried running it Head: 8, Cab: 8 and Head: 4, Cab: 8.

Obviously it would make sense to run the head at 16ohm but given my cab I can't. I prefer the tone of running the head at 4ohm but I just want to know if I could be causing any damage by doing so. Basically I'm after a suggestion as to what ohm to run the head and the cab together with.

Cheers

why would it make more sense to run it at 16 ohms.

run it at whatever your cab is.

My cab has 4/8ohm selections. ATM I have the cab at 8ohm and the head at 4ohm and I wanted to know if that would cause damage to the amp.

maybe.

head = cab. least chance of damage.

head does not = cab. maybe chance of damage.

As long as the cab is higher ohm then the head you are ok. If it is less then you can damage it.

It does NOT sound good having your head at 8 and your cab at 4.
