So today I went to this little guitar place, and I was thinking about buying a Jackson or an Ibanez of some sort.
I checked the back of the Ibanez, and the guitar was made in china. Also, the model seemed non-existing (i.e. A GRG-370-Something) as well as a nice Jackson, which I am pretty sure was made in china as well. Is it possible that they are fake.
Pictures, if they help in any way (Sorry that they suck, had a crappy 2mp mobile camera in hand)

Nice pictures man, we can definitely tell everything about the guitar from a close-up of the pickups.

Those are very cheap models, but the are Ibby and Jackson.

You could do so much better.

Budget? Styles? Location (for used shit)? Current Rig?

Jackson? It's a JS32R Dinky.

Ibanez is a GSA60.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

The store has other models, but the pickups seemed weak...I assume that any guitar I buy there is not fake?

Yeah, they don't get a good rep if they sell fakes and I believe can be shut down for selling counterfeit items (at least under US law).

What country are you in, anyway?

Couldn't you have stepped back a tad?

Sorry mate, too late for that now. Wanted to get close ups, not a pic of the actual full guitar

But that would have been far more useful to us...

If the Jackson is a JS model, and I think it is, it's Made in India, not China.

I don't think so. Those have an LFR and covered pickups. I'd guess it's one of the older JS models. Would have been much easier to figure out with pictures that showed the whole thing. Could be a JS22R?

It is possibly made in India. Yeah the store that I went to sells really old Ibanez models. Its probably cause its hard for them to sell.
The thing is that it has pearl dot inlays, not the traditional dinky sharktooth ones

JS1 perhaps?

Is this it?

Jackson have often put dots on their cheapest models instead of the usual sharkfins. (Sharktooth is the name of the Ibanez version with the extra jagged bit in the middle.)

Yeah, thats her... but I saw another jackson at the store, it had sharkfin inlays, but it was cheaper than this...Probably a JS22?

Wait, I might have been dreaming, but I think I saw 24 frets

Edit: Typed sharktooth again

I believe the Jackson is a JS22. It was made in India. The sticker that was peeled off the back of the headstock would've told you that. But the serial is also a dead give away for country of manufacture.

EDIT: to my knowledge, Jackson doesn't have any of their guitars manufactured in China. Their cheapest are made in India. Their mid-range are made in Japan. And, of course, top-of-the-line are made in U.S.A.

Although, I believe all of their new X Series is made in India also.

Checked the store again today...its a JS1. It has only 22 frets and pearl dot inlays. They also had a JS22R in store, but the price they were asking was outrageous.

cool. i was thinking JS22 cuz of the spacing between the pups in your pics makes it look like a 24-fret body.
