I'm looking for some books written by a songwriter that he talks about writing music and lyrics a lot in. It will probably be an autobiography but it doesn't have to be. I'm just really interested in the whole background behind songs and where things come from but no one ever seems to talk about it

The Amory Wars by Claudio Sanchez of Coheed and Cambria...

Yeah they are comic books but read em anyway, they are just that awesome.

Or if you want an actual book you can go for

Year of the Black Rainbow also by him.
