It was comissioned by the US Army to test chemical defense suits, and other protective gear for soldiers. It can walk, keep its balance if it is pushed, run at 7km/h, and do pushups. You know, to build robot muscle or something.

This is actually really creepy to see in motion. But really really exciting too.

Here's a link to an article...

So yeah. This is awesome, and I can only imagine that if we can get a robot to simulate human motion, balance, and speed, we can eventually apply this technology to making...say...

I'm excited.

I don't know man, it was really struggling with those push-ups. Maybe robots aren't gonna take over the world after all.

I like that it has shoes.

It also sweats and breathes apparently.

Yeah well it also had no hands or wrists while it was doing that...

However, its form was immaculate.

This brings us closer to Gundams, and for that, I am happy.

Well, the entire reason it was made was to test chemical suits, and other isolated suits, so they want to see how a human will react wearing them. I think.

Honestly, my thought went to Mega Man before Gundam. But a mobile suit would be great. Then I could commute with it and be treated to this on my way to class.

It even has that stereotypical robot walk.
Freaky. Killer Robots are quite scary I'd say. Machines are merciless and emotionless.
Like a killer behind a mask.

Quite impressive that it withstood being pushed. Still, Japan'll probably have this beat.
On playing the Paul Gilbert signature at the guitar store extensively, my missus sighed:
"Put it down now, It's like you love that guitar more than me!"
In Which I replied.
"Well it has got two F-Holes!"

Meh, I'm still waiting for power armor and mecha.

EDIT: Oh, you already mentioned power armor. Well, still, we need that shit.

Can it walk without all those wires holding it up?

It has a very impressive range of motions, although it's not as hilarious as BigDog.

Most of those wires weren't supporting it at all, they are hydraulic fluid.

I don't know if the two wires attached to its shoulders were supporting it or not.

Imagine seeing this thing walking the dog.

'Observation: The creature has halted its mobility cycle to deploy a biomass secretion. Olfactory receptors detect hazardous substances in the vicinity. DESTROY!!! DESTROY!!! DESTROY!!!'
