Hey guys,

I've been looking for a new amp now that I finally got my new guitar. I'm not yet sure which amp I should even consider yet... Hope you guys could help me out here.

Budget: US$ 2500,00 at max

New amp. GIG purposes.

Closest city: Los Angeles

Current gear: Peavey Valveking

Genres: Ok. I'm in a modern rock band and also I play at church. But I really like blues a lot... So I need a very versatile amp.

Now, about the amp:

It must have a GOOD CLEAN TONE. Reverb is optional.
It must have a way to get SMALL GAIN for blues and church tones.
It must have HUGE GAIN for playing in my rock band.

My favorite guitarist for all time is JOHN PETRUCCI, followed close by Jimmy Page, Zakk Wylde, Steve Vai, Satriani... and Slash. Also, I'm digging a lot Joe Bonamassa right now.

It MUST be a HEAD + CAB style amp and it MUST HAVE also a EFFECTS LOOP (huge delay fan here).

Although I was looking for a small amp like 50w (more than enough for me) it could be more like 100w, I don't really mind... But if it is 100w I would have to buy a attenuator to play.

So far I've tested a Bogner Ecstasy and really like it! Amazing amp from what I've seen.

I was considering take a look on Orange Rockerverb 50 and the Rectifier's.

I play a Gibson Les Paul Standard and a Ibanez JPM.

This and the mention of Petrucci screams Mark V.

I want to get this kind of tone:

Amazing tone.

But also I'm willing to get closer to Petrucci tone.

Guess my only option is the Mark V, right?

If you can afford the Ecstasy, go for it! Also, try an Uberschall if you can, although I think the Ecstasy will handle blues a lot better than the Uberschall.

You don't need epic tone in the bedroom any more than you need mood lighting to masturbate.

Yeah a Mark seems like the obvious answer. There are certainly other amps, but none that offer the same range of tones. I've actually managed to get a fairly convincing Bonamassa tone our of the Mark I mode.

Don't know why you think you'd need an attenuator though. For most of your modern tones you're going to want the the extra headroom that a 100 watt amp gives you, and to be honest I rarely use 45w or 10w regardless of how quietly I'm playing.

Seeing as Petrucci play's one of the Mark series and they seem to be highly regarded as a versatile amp I guess that would be the first port of call to start looking.

the Behringer BC1010 orwhatever ground controller is great.

Try the Soldano HotRod 50+. Smooth as ****ing silk no matter where you set the gain dial.

Maybe a Vox AC30? You'd need a boost for higher gain stuff but it's a beautiful sound it gets. Try a JCM 800, maybe.
