My band does cover songs. Classic rock. There is some songs that don't have solo so I usually do some improv. But I'm not happy with it

How can take a song like jumping jack flash and get a simple rhythm repeat from the original track to get kind of a backing track. That way I can write music instead of a lifeless improv.

What free prog can do this?
My newest cover Rivers Of Babylon sublime style.

if it's a cover then playing it the way it is seems like a good plan. now if you want to make the song your own like say VH did with You Really Got Me then you need to adapt it to your style. that would dictate how the solo should go.
