^ This, for a small tube (inb4 hybrid arguments) amp I think the HT-5 sounds fine just for practicing and playing in my bedroom.

TS - If you like the sound out of it compared to other amps in your price range then I'd say go for it.

I had an HT-5. I think it's a fine amp but you can do better for the money. And going from the Mustang III to the HT-5 isn't really a step up.

I'm getting an ht5h with 112 cab. Hopefully

That's why I want one. The only tubes for ~500 us are fenders and I hate the sparkle. I wanted something darker.

^There are a lot more amps other then Fender's and Blackstar's for around $500. If you look used there's even a ton more amps available and a much better prices.

I found an old silvertone 1484 for the same and it was awesome, I just wanted a different tone. I tried a Marshall 40w combo and I hated the tone from it. Also tried a vox and it had too much sparkle.

Tried them in the shop and liked them, but I didn't get to try pedals through them so I don't know how they would handle them.

I am on my second Blackstar amp. The HT amps do not live up to the hype, but they are good amps for the money. Blackstar did a good job revising the HT-5 based on common customer complaints, which is something other music gear makers should try. But Blackstar does over promise, and trying to pass their hybrid-circuit vintage-voiced amps off as all-tube amps for modern metal is just plain wrong.

I don't really want it for metal. The gain gets up there, but I don't really want more than what it puts out.

Had an HT Club 40
Sounded great. One of the best sounding amps I have had.
But......
Broke down, went in for warranty repair.
still didn't work
wasn't impressed at all with the build quality inside the amp.
Moved on.

I've solved that on several different amps by resoldering all the pots and jacks going to the control panel.
