Epi LP standard, Epi G-400

Look at Tokai if they are avalable, and maybe Edwards if you can find one in your price range.

Used you will get a much better guitar for your money.

PRS Tremonti SE, but you will have to go used (excelent guitar).
Vintage Guitars makes some diecent budget guitars.
LTD EC, MH, H series guitas are nice and they make them at many diffrent price points.

This.

Especially the PRS Tremonti SE, which isn't hard to find used and is a great guitar.

looks very pretty and with duncan designed pickups it looks like a great guitar for the price. go for it if you want.

EDIT: looking at it again, its a beautiful guitar and because of the price if i saw it in i shop id probably buy it on impulse without even trying it. go for it.

ESP LTD are not going to be great for $400. But i've heard some people swear by them.

If you want versitility, get either an Epi LP standard or a Mexi Fender Strat. They're solid guitars and make great platforms for modding.

They both have decent hardware and good construction. But the pickups limit their potential. New pickups in either guitars will make them fantastic instruments that are gig-worthy.

Just make sure you try before you buy. Two guitars that are exactly the same model can have variations. This is particularly true with Epiphones. Some are dogs, whilst the exact same model right next to it may play beautifully.

Edit: Damn. This thread is a day old
