Am I wrong in assuming that using the Seymour Duncan Blackout Pickups in tandem with the Blackout Preamp would essentially act like using EMG actives and the Afterburner booster?

As in, "Blackout Pickups > Blackout Onboard Preamp > Output" is essentially a similar setup to "EMG Actives > EMG Afterburner > Output", correct?

Edit: bud leaf post icon, because it will catch attention. And because it's awesome.
Sincerely, Chad.

You are incorrect.

The Afterburner is a gain boost.

The SD Preamp is supposed to simulate Blackouts, and won't work with Actives.

Is there anything special about the AfterBurner, then? There seem to be schematics of gain boosters online, and I could just build one from SMD parts to make it ultra-compact for onboard use.
